NEW 1-2 CHE (PL) – VOTING REPORT #4

THE INTRO

Third game, third win. Sarri’s Blues break the curse at St James’ Park with a 1-2 win over a very defensive Newcastle team thanks to goals from Hazard on penalty and Alonso. But let’s see who the POTSFLIP voters decided to award their points to!

THE VOTING REPORT

ALEX GOLDBERG’s 10 points

  • Eden HAZARD — 4 points
  • Antonio RÜDIGER — 2 points
  • JORGINHO — 2 points
  • Marcos ALONSO — 1 point
  • César AZPILICUETA — 1 point

Comment: “Tough game to crack, but Hazard and Jorginho continually managed the game. Defense wasn’t tested much, but Rüdiger looked strong and Alonso continued looking clutch (even if it was an own goal).”

BATSFLIP’s 10 points

  • JORGINHO — 3 points
  • Eden HAZARD — 3 points
  • Antonio RÜDIGER — 1 point
  • Marcos ALONSO — 1 point
  • N’Golo KANTÉ — 1 point
  • Mateo KOVAČIĆ — 1 point

Comment: “Good, but tough game. Newcastle played to defend and injure while the referee could’ve worn a black and white kit from the start. Proud of our players who managed to get the first goal and then a second in a difficult situation. Sarri-ball’s lit.”

CHELSEA ACTIVITY’s 10 points

  • JORGINHO — 3 points
  • Eden HAZARD — 3 points
  • Antonio RÜDIGER — 2 points
  • Marcos ALONSO — 1 point
  • César AZPILICUETA — 1 point

Comment: “Jorginho controlled it; Hazard was hacked to death, but came up strong. Rüdiger and Azpilicueta both showed why they deserve to remain in our defense, and Alonso continues to come up big. We need a striker to suit this system, though – an Agüero type of striker.”

COBHAM BLUES’s 10 points

  • Eden HAZARD — 4 points
  • JORGINHO — 2 points
  • Marcos ALONSO — 2 points
  • N’Golo KANTÉ — 1 point
  • César AZPILICUETA — 1 point

Comment: “These are the types of matches Chelsea need to win to be successful this season – so in that sense it’s a great win. But still lots of work to do to better break down physical teams who play behind the ball.”

DANIEL CHILDS’s 10 points

  • Eden HAZARD — 4 points
  • Antonio RÜDIGER — 2 points
  • Marcos ALONSO — 2 points
  • JORGINHO — 2 points

Comment: “Great to win at a bogey ground. Always difficult against a deep defensive line. The team did well to remain patient and got the luck they deserved. Three wins in a row, can’t complain.”

FLICKSLIKEEDEN’s 10 points

  • Eden HAZARD — 4 points
  • JORGINHO — 2 points
  • Mateo KOVAČIĆ — 2 points
  • Antonio RÜDIGER — 1 point
  • Marcos ALONSO — 1 point

Comment: “A dominating performance which really lacked the final pass – something to improve on, but so many positives.”

LAV’s 10 points

  • Marcos ALONSO — 3 points
  • Eden HAZARD — 3 points
  • Antonio RÜDIGER — 1 point
  • JORGINHO — 1 point
  • Mateo KOVAČIĆ — 1 point
  • César AZPILICUETA — 1 point

Comment: “A dominant performance in terms of possession, but we struggled to create chances. In the end, we found a way and we continue our great start. Hazard and Alonso, the standout performers for me.”

LOUIS BENEVENTI’s 10 points

  • Eden HAZARD — 3 points
  • Antonio RÜDIGER — 2 points
  • Marcos ALONSO — 2 points
  • JORGINHO — 1 point
  • Mateo KOVAČIĆ — 1 point
  • Olivier GIROUD — 1 point

Comment: “A win is a win. No matter how scrappy.”

PASCAL’s 10 points

  • Eden HAZARD — 3 points
  • Antonio RÜDIGER — 2 points
  • Marcos ALONSO — 1 point
  • JORGINHO — 1 point
  • N’Golo KANTÉ — 1 point
  • Mateo KOVAČIĆ — 1 point
  • Álvaro MORATA — 1 point

Comment: “Still a lot of work to be done, but we’re slowly getting there and you can feel it. Good game overall and good result that seals three wins in three. Hazard, once again, was enormous.”

@QUEJUGADORJESE’s 10 points (FANS’ VOTE)

  • JORGINHO — 3 points
  • Eden HAZARD — 3 points
  • Antonio RÜDIGER — 1 point
  • Marcos ALONSO — 1 point
  • Mateo KOVAČIĆ — 1 point
  • Álvaro MORATA — 1 point

Comment: “Great control from Chelsea overall, but fair play to Newcastle for their set-up. Luiz is to blame for the equalizer. Alonso with another clutch goal. Hazard, the standout performer.”
